Our Work

Founded in 2013 by a group of committed property owners, business owners, and tenants, the Jack London Improvement District is a non-profit led by a 12-member board that represents the diverse interests of our community.

We recognize that our city and region face mounting challenges concerning upticks in crime, houselessness, and economically challenging conditions. Our district is not immune to these issues, making the services and advocacy of the BID increasingly important. Our mission for the future is clear: to advocate for our stakeholders on the governmental level, to fund special projects and events that drive business to our neighborhood, to beautify and maintain our historic, cultural center, and to visualize and support an even brighter future for the Jack London community

Ambassadors

Our Ambassadors are the heart of our organization. These hard-working team members are multifaceted; they help maintain our public spaces, they support the needs of our local businesses, and they assist with neighborhood crime prevention by being our eyes & ears on the street. They are frontline workers who are recognized as Ambassadors of Jack London’s mission to keep our district as clean, safe, and welcoming as possible.
